On December 18, 2005 at around noon, a major storm occured during high tide and produced severe flooding in West Berkeley, including forcing the closure of the Ashby undercrossing (on the freeway entrance below the SP railroad tracks).

At Potter Street at the south end of Aquatic Park, the pressure of stormwater combined with the high tide to create this spectacular geyser (notice the water is forced higher than the mini-van on the road).
